The elderly population experiences the greatest increase in deaths each winter. In the winter of 2008/09 there were 29,400 more deaths among those aged 75 and over, compared with levels in the non-winter period.
The min / max temperature sensor provides a low cost solution for vulnerable people with early warning of temperature extremes before they cause health problems. It can act as both a reminder and as an alarm. By storing the alerts, it can also provide valuable feedback to both relatives and carers over a seven day period. The sensor is a battery operated temperature detector, logger and alarm with an easy to read LCD display and in-built clock to record the time and duration of temperature (C or F) extremes.
User-adjustable temperature limits can be set to alert people of temperature extremes via the integral alarm. Featuring touch sensitive controls, no external connections and a long life battery these extreme temperature detectors continuously monitor temperature using an in built sensor. The internal clock time stamps the extreme readings and their duration, memorising readings for seven consecutive days. If the temperature moves outside of the set thresholds, the heat detection device generates an audible alarm with warning message until cancelled.
