Full Description
This epilepsy sensor technology detects all of a person’s movement in their chair and is able to differentiate normal movements from epileptic seizures.
It consists of a sensor, an easy-to-programme control unit and a radio transmitter. The chair sensor is extremely thin and contains no embedded wires or switches. An alarm can be raised on a Telecare home monitoring system and received by a nominated carer. A local audible alarm can also be emitted if there is a carer nearby.
The alarm functions of the epilepsy seat monitor are based on monitoring the person’s movements including respiration and heartbeat. These epilepsy monitors also detect hyperventilation and partial convulsions as seizures. The alarm triggers if the person has abnormal movements longer than the preset delay which can be set between 7-20 seconds.
This solution may benefit people with epilepsy to support and compliment care from health professionals. These epileptic seizure monitors do not have weight restrictions, so are suitable for children as well as adults.
The Monitor can also be used with a wireless pager or a fixed receiver unit - both sold separately.
