Light Therapy
Light Therapy can help to relieve winter blues and treat other forms of depressions.
Medically proven, light therapy products have been the subject of multiple clinical trials that demonstrate great benefit to sufferers of SAD and depression. Seasonal affective disorder (SAD), also known as winter depression or winter blues, is a mood disorder in which people who have normal mental health throughout most of the year experience depressive symptoms in the winter year after year. Light therapy products have been shown to be effective for treatment of the condition. Light therapy lamps are designed to filter out most UV light, which can cause eye and skin damage.
UV light therapy either uses a light box which emits up to 10,000 lux of light, much brighter than a normal lamp, or a lower intensity of specific wavelengths of light. Newer light therapy products are much smaller, often portable and more convenient for users. Because of this, SAD light therapy can be delivered while the recipient conducts other tasks, such as reading, working at a computer, ironing or cooking.
